Chap. 13.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 16 of chapter 248 of the
acts of the general assembly of Virginia approved May 15, 1903, relating to
the charter of the town of Big Stone Gap. [H B 5]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section sixteen of an act of the general assembly of Virginia, ap-
proved May fifteenth, nineteen hundred and three, relative to the
compensation of the mayor of the town of Big Stone Gap, be
amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Section 16. The council may appoint such other town officials
as it sees fit, prescribe their duties and fix their compensation, as
well as the compensation of the sergeant, assistant sergeants, treas-
urer and mayor; and, as to the mayor, the council of said town may
authorize the payment of a salary, not to exceed eighteen hundred
dollars per annum, payable in such manner as it may direct, and
which shall cover the services of said mayor in trying violations of
town ordinances, and any other services rendered the said town.
All fees as now are, or may be hereafter, provided by law, for the
trial of violations of the town ordinances, or any other services re-
quired to be rendered by the mayor, shall be collected and paid
into the treasury of the said town.
