Chap. 79.—An ACT to accept the grant to the Commonwealth of the site of
the Matthew Fontaine Maury “Marker” or nremorial in Goshen Pass,
Rockbridge county, Virginia, made by the Schaghticoke realty company.

Approved February 27, 1926.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
consent and acceptance by the Commonwealth are hereby given to the
grant to the Commonwealth of the small lot or parcel of land on the
Maury highway in Goshen Pass, Rockbridge county, Virginia, made
by the Schaghticoke realty company by its deed dated September
first, nineteen hundred and twenty-five, for the patriotic purposes,
and upon the terms set forth in said deed.
, 2. Said lot of land and the “marker” or monument thereon will
be under the supervision and protection of the authorities of the
State, county, and district, officers whose jurisdiction and authority
embrace the territory in which said lot of land is situated, and it shall
be the duty of said officials to exercise a watchful care over said lot
of land and the monument. thereon.
3. The thanks of the Commonwealth are tendered to said com-
pany and to Mr. Elisha P. Kronkite, its president, for their gracious
and generous act in granting said lot of land to the Commonwealth.
The clerk of the house of delegates will cause an authentic copy
of this act to be sent to Mr. Kronkite, the president of said company.
