Chap. 561.—An ACT for the relief of J. B. Ashbrook. ; ([H B 247]
Approved March 29, 1926.
Whereas, on the night of August twenty-sixth, nineteen hundred
and twenty-two, after a heavy rain, J. B. Ashbrook, of Chesterfield
county, was returning from the city of Richmond to his home, and
upon reaching, but before passing over, a culvert located on route
number twenty of the State highway system, near Elkhart school.
the engine of the Ford automobile which he was driving, stalled; and
the swollen and pent waters about him warning him of his danger, he
and his wife, who was also an occurant of the car, left the same, when
lmost immediately the waters carried away the culvert and the auto-
nobile, damaging the machine to the extent of four hundred dollars;
1ow, therefore,
1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That there
ye, and is hereby, appropriated out of any moneys in the State treas-
iry not otherwise appropriated, the sum of one hundred and fifty
lollars to reimburse J. B. Ashbrook for his loss as aforesaid; and that
he auditor of public accounts be, and he is hereby, directed to draw
1is warrant on the treasurer of Virginia in favor of the said J. B. Ash-
»rook for the said sum.
