Chap. 557.—An ACT to amend an act entitled an act to provide a new charter
for the town of Galax, situated in part in the county of Carroll and in part
in the county of Grayson, and to repeal all other acts inconsistent with this
act, approved February 25, 1922, by adding thereto a new section to be
numbered section 66, in relation to a juvenile and domestic relations court.

1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That an act
entitled an act to provide a new charter for the town of Galax, situated
in part in the county of Carroll and in part in the county of Grayson,
and to repeal all other acts inconsistent with this act, approved Feb-
ruary twenty-fifth, nineteen hundred and twenty-two, be amended by
adding thereto a new section to be numbered section sixty-six which
new section shall read as follows:
Section 66. Upon petition of the council the circuit court of the
counties of Carroll and Grayson shall appoint a special justice of the
peace, to be known as the judge of the juvenile and domestic relations
court for the town of Galax, who shall hold office for such term and
shall receive such compensation as the council may provide, which
judge shall have original jurisdiction within the corporate limits of
the town and within three miles beyond the corporate limits thereof,
over the same cases, matters and things as is conferred by general law
upon juvenile and domestic relations courts in the cities and counties
of this State.
2. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from its
passage.
