Chap. 502.—An ACT to amend the Code of Virginia by adding thereto a new
section to be numbered section 4302-a, on the subject of fraternal beneficiary
associations, companies, orders and societies. [H B 421]
Approved March 25, 1926.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
Code of Virginia be amended by adding thereto a new section to be
numbered forty-three hundred and two-a, which new section shall
read as follows:
Section 4302-a. Fraternal beneficiary, associations, companies,
orders and societies which include white and colored persons pro-
hibited in this State——Fraternal beneficiary associations, companies,
orders and societies which admit both white and colored persons to
membership, and fraternal beneficiary associations, companies, orders
and societies which have white officers and colored members or colored
officers and white members, shall not be licensed to do business in this
State, and shall not maintain an office in this State or receive dues or
make disbursements or carry on any other business pertaining thereto
from or at any point within this State. Any person acting for or in
behalf of such organization in violation of this section or aiding or ad-
vising or assisting in its violation shall be guilty of a misdemeanor,
and on conviction thereof, shall be fined not less than five hundred
dollars nor more than five thousand dollars, or imprisoned in jail for
not less than six months nor more than twelve months, or both such
fine and imprisonment.
