Chap. 495.—An ACT for the relief of Mrs. Lillie A. Michelbacher. [S B 38]

Whereas, on the fifth day of April, nineteen hundred and twenty-
two, Mistress Lillie A. Michelbacher, of the city of Richmond, while
walking upon a walkway in the capitol square, received painful in-
juries due to a defect in the walkway, and as a result was totally dis-
abled for two weeks and partially disabled for three months, and per-
haps permanently injured, and
Whereas, she has expended and contracted to expend for medical
attention and other necessary expenses on account of her injuries, the
sum of five hundred dollars; and
Whereas, no action can be brought against the Commonwealth for
a tort of this nature, without its consent, which consent has not been
given; now, therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
auditor of public accounts be, and he is hereby, directed to issue his
warrant on the treasurer of Virginia in favor of Mistress Lillie A.
Michelbacher for the sum of five hundred dollars, in full payment of
her claim against the Commonwealth for. the injuries received by her
as aforesaid. The said sum is hereby appropriated for the said pur-
pose, and it shall be paid out of any moneys in the State treasury not
otherwise appropriated.
