Chap. 449.—An ACT to amend and re-enact an act to authorize the board of
supervisors of the county of Culpeper to employ a superintendent of roads
‘ for the districts of Catalpa, Cedar Mountain, Jefferson and Stevensburg,
in the said county; to prescribe the powers and duties of such superin-
tendent and authorize the levy of a tax in said districts to pay the ex-
penses incident to the employment of such superintendent, approved March

1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That an ac
approved March third, nineteen hundred and twenty-four, entitled ar
act to authorize the board of supervisors of the county of Culpeper tc
employ a superintendent of roads for the districts of Catalpa, Ceda
Mountain, Jefferson and Stevensburg, to prescribe the powers anc
duties of such superintendent, and to authorize the levy of a tax ir
said district to pay the expenses incident to the employment of suct
superintendent, be and the same is amended and re-enacted so as t
read as follows, to-wit:
Section 1. That the board of supervisors of the county of Cul-
yeper be, and it is hereby, authorized to appoint and employ at such
compensation as it may fix, one superintendent of roads for the dis-
ricts of Catalpa, Cedar Mountain, Jefferson and Stevensburg in said
county; which superintendent shall have such qualifications as the
y0ard of supervisors may prescirbe, and he shall have the same duties
ind powers in respect to the four districts as aforesaid, as provided
n chapter eighty-five of the Code of Virginia and other general law of
his State for a county superintendent of roads.
Section 2. All expenses incident to the employment of such
superintendent of roads for the four districts shall be borne by such
listricts and board of supervisors of the county of Culpeper is hereby
authorized to levy annually a special tax not exceeding twenty cents
yn the one hundred dollars of the assessed valuation of all the property
situated in said districts subject to district road taxation in order to
raise the revenue necessary to pay the expense incident to the employ-
ment of such superintendent and for the other purposes set out in
section nineteen hundred and eighty-six of chapter eighty-three of
the Code of Virginia.
2. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from its
passage.
