Chap. 440.—An ACT to amend and re-enact an act approved February 25, 1922,
chapter 92, Acts of 1922, page 129, which act provides for the working and
keeping in repair the public roads of Buchanan and Dickenson counties, and
which said acteauthorized the board of supervisors of Dickenson county -to
issue bonds or other obligations of said county, on behalf of the said county,
or on behalf of any one or more of the magisterial districts thereof, either
or both, for a sum not exceeding four hundred thousand dollars, for the
purpose of financing the construction of sections of the State highway system
in the said county of Dickenson, and to levy taxes to pay the interest thereon;
and to create a sinking fund for the payment of the principal of such bonds
at maturity, and to add a section to said act, allowing the State highway
commissioner of Virginia, in his discretion, to change the location of any
road in said county of Dickenson, heretofore or that may hereafter, be
built by funds from the sale of bonds heretofore or that may hereafter be
voted by said county, or by any magisterial district of said county, under
the provisions of an act, approved March 28, 1922, Acts of 1922, page 888,

1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That an act
entitled an act to amend and re-enact an act approved February
twenty-fifth, nineteen hundred and twenty-two, entitled an act to
amend and re-enact an act entitled an act to amend and re-enact an
act approved February twentieth, eighteen hundred and ninety-six,
entitled an act to provide for the working and keeping in repair the
public roads of Buchanan and Dickenson counties as heretofore
amended, be amended and re-enacted by adding the following addi-
tional section thereto, allowing the State highway commissioner of
Virginia, in his discretion, to change the location of any road in the
said county of Dickenson, heretofore or that may hereafter be built,
by funds from the sale of bonds heretofore or that may hereafter be
voted by said county or by any magisterial district of said county,
under the provisions of an act approved March twenty-eighth, nine-
teen hundred and twenty-two, acts of nineteen hundred and twenty-
two, page eight hundred and eighty-eight, chapter five hundred and
thirteen, namely: |
Section 9. Whenever it shall appear to the State highway com-
missioner of Virginia that the location of any road except roads
within the State highway system, that has been or that may hereafter
be made or proposed to be nade, in the said county of Dickenson
from funds derived from the sale of bonds heretofore or that may
hereafter be voted by said county or by any magisterial district of
said county, under the provisions of an act approved March twenty-
eighth, nineteen hundred and twenty-two, acts of nineteen hundred
and twenty-two, page eight hundred and eighty-eight, chapter five
hundred and thirteen, is impracticable, the State highway com-
missioner of Virginia is hereby authorized and empowered to change
the location of such road, or proposed road, without affecting the
validity of any bonds heretofore or hereafter issued.
2. By reason of the fact that the public interest requires that the
road work be commenced as soon as possible on certain roads in said
county, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this act shall
be in force from its passage.
