Chap. 439.—An ACT to protect schools from depredating dogs in Franklin
county. [H B 307]
Approved March 24, 1926.
1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That it shall
be unlawful for any person to allow his dog on the school grounds of
any public school in Franklin county, and upon complaint of the
teacher of any such school that any dog is upon the premises, in
writing, to the owner or person in charge of such dog, then such person
shall confine said dog or otherwise keep it away from any school
house, and if such person fails so to do, he shall be fined not less than
five nor more than twenty dollars, upon a warrant to be issued upon
complaint of such school teacher in charge, or other person interested
in protecting the school against depredating dogs. Any justice having
jurisdiction may hear and determine the case with right of appeal to a
defendant within ten days after trial, upon due security being given
for payment of fine and costs.
2. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from its
passage.
