Chap. 391.—An ACT to amend and’ re-enact section 4 of an act entitled an act
for the protection of fish in the Shenandoah river and its tributaries, ap-
proved March 12, 1906, and continued in force by section 3218 of the Code of
Virginia, and to add an additional section to be known as section 4-a, relating
to protection of fish in tributaries of the Potomac west of the Blue Ridge
mountains. [H B 349]

1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
four of an act entitled an act for the protection of fish in the Shenan-
doah river and its tributaries, approved March twelfth, nineteen
hundred and six, and continued in force by section thirty-two hundred
and eighteen of the Code of Virginia, be amended and re-enacted so as
to read as follows:
Section 4. Dip nets and stir nets may be used in taking and
catching fish, other than bass and mountain trout, from the said
river and its tributaries, except within the prohibited period of each
year. Gigs, spears, dulls or snares may be used in killing and taking
fish, other than bass and mountain trout, from the Shenandoah river
and its tributaries from November the first to December the tenth
of each year, but at no other time; provided, that it shall be unlawful
to take fish of any kind from the waters aforesaid in any way when
said waters are covered by ice.
Section 4-a. It shall be unlawful to catch fish by seines other than
mad-toms, minnows or other small fish used for bait, in any of the
tributaries of the Potomac west of the Blue Ridge.
Any person violating any of the provisions of this act shall be
guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine of not less
than ten dollars, nor more than fiftv dollars.
