Chap. 319.—An ACT to amend and re-enact subsection 2 of section 5 of an act
approved March 27, 1918, entitled an act to amend and re-enact an act ap-
proved March 3, 1898, entitled an act to prescribe the mode in which clerks
of courts shall keep a record of all taxes and other public moneys collected
by them, and to require them to pay the same into the treasury, as amended
by an act approved March 27, 1914; and to require the clerk in connection
therewith, to keep a record of fees received. [H B 219]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
subsection two of section five of an act approved March twenty-
seventh, nineteen hundred and eighteen, entitled an act to amend
and re-enact an act approved March third, eighteen hundred and
ninety-eight, entitled an act to prescribe the mode in which clerks
of courts shall keep a record of all taxes and other public moneys
collected by them, and to require them to pay the same into the
treasury, as amended by an act approved March twenty-seventh,
nineteen hundred and fourteen; and to require the clerk in con-
nection therewith, to keep a record of fees received, be amended and
re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Section 5, Subsection 2. The auditor of public accounts shall
furnish the books, sheets and forms to the respective clerks of the
courts of the Commonwealth required by this act on and after this
act becomes operative without charge to the clerks and without charge
to the county or city, as the books, sheets, and forms are for the
purpose of recording taxes due the Commonwealth, and the public
printer is directed to let by competitive bidding, the contract for
furnishing the stationery, binders, ruling and printing, necessary to
carry out the purposes of this act, which contract shall be separate
rom, and independent of, all contracts for general printing made
by him.
2. An emergency existing to relieve the counties and cities of
this expense, this act shall be in force from its passage.
