Chap. 218.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 2601 of the Code of Vir-
ginia in relation to the funding of the public debt, etc., the opening of the
funding for one year from date of passage of this bill and the assuming of
Virginia’s two-thirds and the discontinuing of issuing West Virginia’s one-
third certificates. [S B 135]

1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
twenty-six hundred and one of the Code of Virginia in relation to the
settlement of the public debt be amended and re-enacted so as to read
as follows: That from the passage of this bill the commissioners of
the sinking fund are to fund outstanding evidence of debt due by this
Commonwealth and not heretofore funded under act of February
twentieth, eighteen hundred and ninety-two. All bonds issued under
the provisions of this section shall carry semi-annual interest from the
period next preceding date of funding.
2. And whereas the State of West Virginia has made a final
settlement of her obligations to the Commonwealth of Virginia as
decreed by the United States supreme court in the Virginia versus
West Virginia debt settlement case, be it enacted that in case of such
funding as set out above in which settlement a West Virginia certifi.
cate would formerly have been issued that Virginia century certificates
only be issued, and only to the extent of Virginia’s two-thirds.
