Chap. 166.—An ACT to authorize the Commissioner of the Department of Game
and Inland Fisheries to issue permits to residents of this State to hold in
captivity and breed for propagation purposes only any of the wild game birds
and wild game animals of the State. [H B 100]
Approved March 17, 1926.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That it shall
be lawful for the commissioner of the department of game and inland
fisheries to issue, in his discretion and under such regulations as he
may prescribe, annual permits to the residents of this State to hold
in captivity, for breeding purposes only, wild game birds and wild
game animals now protected by law.
2. The holders of such permits shall render to the said commis-
‘sioner a report each year on or before December first, giving the num-
ber and kind of game birds and game animals raised, and the number
liberated in the hunting fields. No such permit shall be renewed
until such report is filed.
3. Wild game birds and wild game animals raised by any per-
mittee shall not be sold, bartered or exchanged, nor shipped out of
this State; provided, however, that should the commissioner of the
department of game and inland fisheries desire, he is authorized to
purchase game animals and game birds from said permittees for the
purpose of restocking any of the depleted game fields of this State.
4. Any person violating any of the provisions of this act shall be
punished by a fine of not less than ten dollars nor more than fifty
dollars.
