Chap. 157.—An ACT to provide for the revision, simplitication, and codification
of the general tax laws of Virginia. [S B 87]

1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That there
shall be appointed a commission of three members to collate, revise,
simplify and codify the general tax laws of this State. The commis-
sion shall consist of the director of the State legislative reference bu-
reau, ex-officio chairman thereof, and two members to be appointed
by the governor, all of whom shall serve without compensation.
2. The said commission shall collate, revise, simplify and codify
the general tax laws of this State, and shall make a report of its work
to the general assembly at its session in nineteen hundred and twenty-
eight. Such report shall include a draft of a proposed bill to consoli-
date into one act the general tax statutes of the State, to be known and
cited as “‘the tax Code of Virginia.” The material changes proposed
to be made by such draft shall be pointed out in writing with concise
reasons for each such change.
3. Five hundred copies of the said report shall be published by the
superintendent of public printing, under the direction of the chair-
man of the commission and a copy thereof mailed by such superin-
tendent to each member-elect of the general assembly at least ten
days before the beginning of the session of nineteen hundred and
twenty-eight. The cost of such publication and mailing shall be paid
out of the general printing fund.
