Chap. 134.—An ACT to authorize the board of supervisors of Stafford county
to sell or lease certain land in the said county, which is no longer needed
for public purposes. [H B 196]

Whereas, by an act approved February eighth, nineteen hundred
and one, the Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad Com-
pany was authorized to relinquish and convey to the board of super-
visors of Stafford county, and their successors, forever, certain land
described in the said act to be used as a public highway and landing;
an
_ Whereas, pursuant to the provisions of the said act, the said land
therein described was conveyed to the said county of Stafford by deed
dated the twenty-sixth day of November, nineteen hundred and one,
and recorded in the clerk’s office of the said county in deed book nine,
page four hundred and thirty-six; and
Whereas, the board of supervisors of Stafford county, being of the
opinion that the lot of land at the mouth of Aquia creek described in
the said act as containing one and one-half acres, together with fifty
feet of the width of the said right of way therein described, is not at
this time necessary or beneficial to the public use, and that the said
lot of land and a portion of the said eighty-foot right of way should
be disposed of by lease or sale and the proceeds derived therefrom
applied to some public use in the said county, has, by proper resolu-
tion passed at a meeting held at Stafford court house on January
fourth, nineteen hundred and twenty-six, requested the general as-
sembly to authorize such sale or lease; now, therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
board of supervisors of Stafford county be, and they are hereby,
authorized and empowered to sell and convey, or to demise by a proper
lease or leases, such sales or leases to be upon such terms and condi-
tions as the said board of supervisors may deem proper, the lot of land
at the mouth of Aquia creek at the eastern end of the said right of
way, containing one and a half acres, together with such portion of
the said right of way not exceeding fifty feet in width as lies solely
within the boundaries of the Bronaugh grant, the said right of way
being described as a strip of land eighty feet in width extending from
a point one hundred yards east of the road crossing at Brooke Station
to the Potomac river at the mouth of Aquia creek:
2. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from its pas-
sage.
