Chap. 108.—An ACT to authorize the council of the city of Danville to create
the office of bail commissioner, and to prescribe his powers and duties, and
fix his compensation. [H B 41]
Approved March 6, 1926.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
council of the city of Danville may in April, nineteen hundred and
twenty-six, or in April of any year and in April each succeeding two
years thereafter, or at any time there may be a vacancy in such office,
designate one of the justices of the peace of the city of Danville as
bail commissioner, who shall have the power to admit all persons to
bail as heretofore exercised by the police justice of the city of Dan-
ville, and shall have the power to issue criminal warrants for all
offenses committed within the city of Danville, or within one mile of
the corporate limits thereof. In the event that the justice of the
peace so designated shall be absent or disabled for any cause, the judge
of the corporation court may designate some other justice of the peace
to act in his stead.
2. The council of the city of Danville shall have the power to fix
the compensation of the bail commissioner, and prescribe his powers
aot ane not inconsistent with the general laws of the Common-
wealth.
3. All acts or parts of acts inconsistent with this act are hereby
repealed.
4. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from its pas-
sage.
