1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That hereafter
it shall be unlawful for any person to take or catch fish in the waters of
the Tye river and its tributaries and in the waters of the Rockfish river
and its tributaries in the county of Nelson, and in the waters of Piney
river and its tributaries 1 in the counties of Nelson and Amherst except by
angling with hook and line; but it shall be lawful for any person to use
a net commonly known as a “landing net”’ to land any fish hooked by
lawful angling with hook and line.
2. Any violation of this act shall be a misdemeanor and shall be
punished by a fine of not less than ten dollars nor more than fifty
ollars.
