Chap. 471.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 2417 of the Code of 13 Baan

Approved March 21, 1924.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
twenty-four hundred and seventeen of the Code of Virginia be amended
and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Section 2417. By whom lists examined and how certified; where
preserved.—Each of the three lists in the case of a county treasurer
shall be submitted to the board of supervisors of the county and be
accompanied by the certificate of the chairman of said board touching
the propriety of such lists and each case therein contained.
The boards of supervisors shall assemble at their respective court-
houses for the purpose of examining the lists not later than the fifteenth
day of August in each year.
The lists of the treasurer of a county shall be presented to and be
examined by the circuit court of the county or judge thereof in vacation,
and in the case of a city treasurer the lists shall be presented to and be
examined by the corporation or hustings court, or circuit court of a
city not having a corporation or hustings court, or the judge thereof in
vacation. The court or judge being satisfied of the correctness of said
lists, and that the taxes and levies are correctly extended, or having
corrected them, if erroneous, shall direct the clerk to certify copies there-
of to the auditor of public accounts, and a copy of the list of property
on the commissioner’s land book improperly placed thereon or not as-
certainable to the appropriate commissioner of the revenue, who shall
correct his land book accordingly.
The original lists and the tickets for taxes and levies corresponding
therewith shall be filed with and be preserved by the respective clerks
in their offices.
