Chap. 360.—An ACT to repeal an act entitled an act to incorporate the town of
Seddon in the county of Bland, in force March 22, 1872, as amended by acts
approved December 24, 1872, and February 7, 1876, provided the voters of
said town vote in favor of such repeal. [H B 339]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That an act
entitled an act to incorporate the town of Seddon in the county of
Bland, in force March twenty-second, eighteen hundred and seventy-
two, as amended by acts approved December twenty-fourth, eighteen
hundred and seventy-two and February seventh, eighteen hundred and
seventy-six, be, and the same hereby is, repealed; provided, however,
that this repeal shall not become effective unless and until at the regular
election to be held in said town on the second Tuesday in June, nineteen
hundred and twenty-four, a majority of the qualified voters living within
the corporate limits of said town and voting in the said election shall
vote in favor of such repeal. And it is hereby made the duty of the
regular election officers to prepare the ballots and otherwise provide for
the submission of the said question to the voters at the said election;
on each ballot shall be printed in separate lines the following words:
FOR repeal of Charter
AGAINST repeal of Charter
Voters desiring to vote for the repeal of the charter shall strike out
the words ‘AGAINST repeal of Charter,” and voters desiring to vote
against the repeal of the charter shall strike out the words ‘‘FOR repeal -
of Charter.’”’ Voters striking out or erasing the words “FOR” or
Fe eNST™ shall be deemed to have stricken out or erased the entire
ine.
If the majority of the qualified voters voting at the said election be
in favor of the repeal of the said charter, then upon petition of the board
of supervisors of the county of Bland the circuit court of the said county
shall have jurisdiction to make such provision as may seem to be just
for the disposition, by sale or otherwise, of the property, if any, belong-
ing to said town and for the payment of the debts and obligations, if
any, of said town.
2. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from its passage.
