Chap. 326.—An ACT to regulate the duties of the board of supervisors of South-
ampton county, Virginia, and directing them to publish amount of funds
received and expended by them and fixing a penalty for their failure to do so.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That it shall
be the duty of the board of supervisors of Southampton county, Vir-
ginia, to keep or cause to be kept a complete and accurate account of all
money which is subject to their order, which is used in any way through
and by them and keep or cause to be kept an accurate account of all
claims allowed and paid out by them and keep or cause to be kept an
accurate account of all disbursements made through and by them of all
State, county and district funds and all other funds in any way handled
by them.
* 2. The said board of supervisors of Southampton county, Virginia,
shall publish or cause to be published, a full and complete statement of all
their disbursements, every six months, beginning June first, nineteen
hundred and twenty-four, and every six months thereafter, in a paper
printed in Southampton county, Virginia, and the clerk of said
board shall post a copy of same at the front door of the courthouse, and
any failure on the part of the clerk of the said board of supervisors of
Southampton county, Virginia, to do this within thirty days after the
above dates mentioned, shall subject said clerk to a fine of not less than
fifty dollars, nor more than one hundred dollars for each offense or
failure to comply with this statute.
