Chap. 22.—An ACT to provide libraries in the public schools and to repeal sec-
tions seven hundred and fifty-four, seven hundred and fifty-five and seven
hundred and fifty-six of the Code of Virginia of nineteen hundred and nine-
teen. {fH B 32]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That when-
ever the patrons and friends of any public free school shall raise by
private subscription and tender to the clerk of the county or city school
board for the establishment of a school library connected with said
school, the sum of fifteen dollars ($15.00), the school board shall appro-
priate the sum of fifteen dollars ($15.00) for this purpose, and the State
board of education, out of any fund provided for public school libraries,
shall appropriate ten dollars ($10.00), thus making a minimum of forty
dollars ($40.00) for a unit library; the said library or libraries shall be
purchased and properly cared for under rules and regulations adopted
by the State board of education, provided the county or city treasurer
shall receive no commission for receiving and disbursing funds for said
libraries.
2. Sections seven hundred and fifty-four, seven hundred and fifty-
five and seven hundred and fifty-six of the Code of Virginia of nineteen
hundred and nineteen are hereby repealed.
