1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
board of supervisors of Smyth county be, and it is hereby, authorized,
if in the opinion of the entire board it is necessary to make annual
allowances, as salaries, to two deputy sheriffs of said county in a
sum of not more than three hundred dollars each, which allowances
shall be paid out of the treasury of said county as the said board may
direct.

The names of the deputy sheriffs who are to receive the said allow-
ances as salary shall be certified to the board by the sheriff of the said
county after their appointment has been approved by the court.

2. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from ite passage.
