Chap. 154.—An ACT to authorize the board of supervisors of the county of Russell
to levy, for local school purposes, a district tax, in addition to the maximum
now authorized by general law, on all property in the particular district sub-
ject to district taxation for school purposes. [H B 235]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
board of supervisors of the county of Russell be, and it is hereby,
authorized, on motion of the member of the board of supervisors from
any magisterial and school district in the said county, annually to
levy in that district, in addition to the maximum levies for local school pur-
poses now authorized by general law, a tax of not exceeding one dollar
on every one hundred dollars of the assessed value of all property in that
district subject to district taxation for school purposes. The revenue
derived from any such additional levy shall be expended for the benefit
of the schools of the district in which it was raised.
2. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from its pas-
sage.
