Chap. 95.—An ACT to validate, ratify, approve, and confirm elections held
in Arlington school district, of Arlington county, on October 9, 1922,
in Washington school district, of Arlington county, on January 8,
1923, and Jefferson school district, of Arlington county, on March 5,
1923, authorizing the issuance of school bonds by the county school
board, of said county, for the purpose of providing additional sites,
school buildings and furnishing the same, and declaring the said
bonds to be issued pursuant to said elections to be valid obligations of
the county school board of said county. [fH B 76]

Whereas, at an election held on Monday, October ninth, nine-
teen hundred and twenty-two, in Arlington school district, of
Arlington county, a majority of the qualified voters of said
school district voting on the question of issuing bonds for the
purpose of additional school buildings, sites, and furnishing the
same for the said school district, voted in favor of the same and
authorized the issuance of bonds to an amount not exceeding
three hundred and fifty-four thousand dollars; and,
Whereas, at an election held on Monday, January eighth,
nineteen hundred and twenty-three, in Washington school dis-
trict, of Arlington county, a majority of the qualified voters of
said school district voting on the question of issuing bonds for
the purpose of additional school buildings, sites, and furnishing
the same for the said school district, voted, in favor of the same
_ and authorized the issuance of bonds to an amount not exceeding
one hundred and seventy thousand dollars; and.
Whereas, at an election held on Monday, March fifth, nine-
teen hundred and twenty-three, in Jefferson school district, of
Arlington county, a majority of the qualified voters of said
school district voting on the question of issuing bonds for the
purpose of additional school buildings, sites, and furnishing the
same for the said school] district, voted in favor of the same and
authorized the issuance of bonds to an amount not exceeding
one hundred fifty thousand dollars; and,
Whereas, it is the desire of the county school board of Arling-
an county, Virginia, to issue and sell the said bonds; now, there-
ore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the said elections held in Arlington school district, of Arlington
county, on the ninth day of October, nineteen hundred and
twenty-two; in Washington school district, of Arlington county,
on the eighth day of January, nineteen hundred and twenty-
three: and in Jefferson school district, of Arlington county, on
the fifth day of March, nineteen hundred and twenty-three, be
and the same are hereby validated, ratified, approved and con-
firmed, notwithstanding any defect or irregularity in the call-
ing or holding of the said elections, and the said three hundred
fifty-four thousand dollars of bonds authorized by said election
for Arlington school district of Arlington county to be hereafter
issued. and the one hundred and seventy thousand dollars of
bonds authorized by said election for Washington school district,
of Arlington county, to be hereafter issued, and the one hundred
and fifty thousand dollars of bonds authorized by said election
for Jefferson school district, of Arlington county, to be hereafter
issued, be, and the same are hereby validated, ratified, approved,
and confirmed and the said bonds are hereby declared to be the
valid and binding obligations of the county school board of
Arlington county, in accordance with provisions of chapter
one hundred and seventy-five, of the acts of the general assembly,
nineteen hundred and twenty-two.
2. An emergency existing in that the county of Arlington
is in urgent need of funds to be derived from the sale of bonds
for the purpose of erecting additional school buildings and fur-
nishing the same and purchasing sites, in the said school dis-
tricts, this act shall be in force from its passage.
