Chap. 77.—An ACT to amend and re-enact an act entitled “An act au-
thorizing the board of supervisers of Halifax county to borrow not
exceeding seventy-five thousand dollars and to issue notes therefor for
the purpose of improving, constructing or reconstructing any section
or sections of the State highway system within said county in accord-
ance with the provisions of chapter 184 of the acts of assembly of
1920, and providing for payment of interest on and the principal of said
notes,” approved March 15, 1922. [S B 48]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
an act entitled an act authorizing the board of supervisors of
Halifax county to borrow not exceeding seventy-five thousand
dollars and to issue notes therefor for the purpose of improv-
ing, constructing or reconstructing any section or sections of
the State highway system within said county in accordance with
the provisions of chapter one hundred and eighty-four of the
acts of assembly of nineteen hundred and twenty, and provid-
ing for the payment of the interest on and the principal of said
notes approved March fifteenth, nineteen hundred and twenty-
two, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Section 1. The board of supervisors of Halifax county is
hereby authorized and empowered to borrow a sum not exceed-
‘ing seventy-five thousand dollars, and to issue notes therefor ;
said notes to be issued in such denominations as the said board
may provide, and shall be payable at such time or times as the
said board may prescribe, bearing interest at not exceding s1x
per centum per annum. The said notes shall not be sold for
less than par.
Section 2. The notes authorized by this act shall be signed
by the chairman of the board of supervisors and countersigned
by the clerk thereof, and the proceeds thereof shall be used by
the said board for improving, constructing or reconstructing
any section or sections of the State highway system within said
county as the said board and the State highway commission
may provide in accordance with the provisions of chapter one
hundred and eight-four of the act of assembly of nineteen
hundred and twenty.
Section 8. The board of supervisors shall provide for the
payment of the interest on said notes and the creation of a sink-
ing fund to retire them at maturity, and the notes aforesaid,
when issued, shall be binding obligations of Halifax county.
Section 4. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force
from its passage. |
