CHAP. 64.—An ACT to authorize the board of supervisors of Botetourt
county to reconstruct and resurface that portion of the macadam
road, or so much thereof as may be necessary, between the town of
Fincastle, Virginia, and Trinity and between Trinity and Troutvilile
on its present location, said road to be so reconstructed and resur-
faced to the north side of what is known as Main street in the said
town of Fincastle, using what is known as Roanoke street in the said
town; and also to authorize said board to issue and sell certain war-
rants on the county treasurer to provide for the cost of such road
improvement and to make provision for the payment of the interest
on said warrants and the retirement of the principal thereof at
maturity. [fH B 68]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the board of supervisors of Botetourt county is hereby authorzed
and empowered to reconstruct and resurface that portion of the
macadam road, or so much thereof as may be necessary, between
the town of Fincastle, Virginia, and Trinity and between Trinity
and Troutville, on its present location, in connection with and
under the supervision of the State highway commission, said
road to be so reconstructed and resurfaced to the north side of
what is known as Main street in the said town of Fincastle,
using what is known as Roanoke street in the said town of Fin-
castle.
2. That to meet the expenses of reconstructing and resur-
facing the said road, as aforesaid the said board of supervisors
is hereby authorized and empowered to issue and sell warrants
on the treasurer of the said county, payable in two, three and
four years, which warrants shall bear interest at a rate not to
exceed six per centum per annum, payable semi-annually until
paid and the aggregate of all the warrants so issued under this
act shall not exceed six thousand dollars, and shall not be sold for
less than their face value.
3. The said board of supervisors of the said county shall,
for each of the said years in which said warrants and interests
are payable, in laying the levy, make a sufficient levy not in con-
flict with the general law, on the property in the Amsterdam
magisterial district of said county, subject thereto, to raise
sufficient amount to pay off the warrants with all interest then
due and payable on any and all of said warrants drawn under
this act, payable in said years, in addition to current expenses
assessable against the property in said district for said years,
and out of said levies the said warrants and interest shall be paid
by the treasurer of said county, and shall be credited to him in
his settlement of said district road funds.
4. The enormous traffic on this road and the necessity that
this work proceed at once, is such that an emergency is hereby
declared to exist, and this act shall be in force from its passage.
