Chap. 16.—An ACT to amend and re-enact an act entitled an act for the
protection of muskrat, in Essex, Charles City, James City, New Kent,
York and Warwick counties, approved March 24, 1920; and requiring
the game wardens to enforce the provisions of this act. [S B 37]
Approved March 16, 1923.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
an act entitled an act for the protection of muskrat in Essex,
Charles City, James City, New Kent, York and Warwick
counties, approved March twenty-fourth, nineteen hundred and
twenty be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
2. It shall be unlawful for any person to hunt, trap, or kill
muskrat in the county of Essex, between the first day of April
and the fifteenth day of December, and in the counties of
Charles City, James City, New Kent, York and Warwick from
the first day of April to the first day of January of each year.
3. Any person violating the provisions of this act shall be
guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction, shall be fined
not less than five nor more than fifty dollars.
4, It shall be the-duty of the game wardens of this State
to enforce the provisions of this act, and for their services they
shall receive the same fees provided for in an act entitled an act
to create the State department of game and inland fisheries,
approved March eleventh, nineteen hundred and sixteen, and
acts amendatory thereof.
