Chap. 100.—An ACT to provide that where any city situated in Norfolk
county has heretofore annexed, or shall hereafter annex, a portion of
the territory of said county, residence in such annexed portion at the
time of an election, shall, in the case of county and district officers
elective by the people, be regarded as residence in such county and in
the district out of which the annexed territory was carved. [H B 101]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
owing to the peculiar conditions existing in the county of Nor-
folk, it is hereby expressly provided that where any city situated
in said county has heretofore annexed or shall hereafter annex
a portion of the territory of said county, residence in such an-
nexed portion at the time of an election shall, in the case of
county and district officers elective by the people, be regarded as
residence in such county and in the district out of which the an-
nexed territory was carved; and no person, on account of such
residence, shall be ineligible to any such county or district. office.
