any branch prison, to any of the reformatories of the State, or to any of the
hospitals for the insane or colonies for the epileptic and feeble-minded, and

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That all
persons upon admission as inmates to the State penitentiary, State
penitentiary farm, or to any branch prison, or to any of the reforma-
tories of the State, or to any of the hospitals for the insane or colo.
nies for the epileptic and feeble-minded, shall be examined as to the
existence or non-existence of any venereal disease, the presence 0!
syphilis to be detected as nearly as possible by the Wassermann test ;
and any such person found to have a venereal disease shall be prop-
erly treated, and, if it be possible, cured.
