1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
fifty-nine hundred and ninety-five of the Code of Virginia be amended
and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Sec. 5995. No person competent to serve as juror at more than
one term during same year.—No person who has actually served as a
petit juror at any one term’of a court shall be permitted to serve as a
petit juror, or a juror in the trial of any criminal case, at any other
term of that court during the same year, but no exception to any
such juror on this ground shall be allowed after he is sworn. If,
however, exception be duly made, and such person is permitted to
serve in contravention of this section, it shall of itself constitute
reversible error.
