Chap. 502.—An ACT to appropriate $10,000.00 to the Association for the Preser-
vation of Virginia Antiquities, to be used solely for the restoration and
preservation of grounds and buildings at Jamestown island. [S B 100]

Whereas, the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiqui-
ties is by deed of gift owner of twenty-two and one-half acres of land
at Jamestown Island, the most historic portion of American soil, which
it is obligated to maintain and preserve; and,
Whereas, this association, a voluntary organization of unpaid,
patriotic men and women, is discharging that duty and has for thirty-
two years performed commendable work at Jamestown Island and
elsewhere ; and,
Whereas, the association is badly in need of funds for continuing
its excellent work; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
sum of ten thousand dollars be, and the same is hereby, appropriatec
out of any moneys in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, to the
Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities, solely for the
purpose of restoring and preserving grounds and buildings at James:
