Chap. 399.—An ACT to confer on circuit courts of counties jurisdiction to
amend legislative charters of towns. [S B 389]
Approved March 20, 1920.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
circuit court of any county, in which is situated a town, in whole or
in part holding a legislative charter, shall have jurisdiction to amend
the said charter upon the petition of a majority of the qualified voters
of the said town, and the proceedings shall conform, as near as the
nature of the case will permit, to the provisions of chapter one hun-
dred and sixteen of the Code of Virginia. Such amendments, how-
ever, if ordered by the court, shall not be in conflict with the Constitu-
tion of Virginia, nor with any general statute passed for the organiza-
tion.or government of towns.
