Chap. 374.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 2039 of the Code of Vir-
ginia. [H B 149]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That sec-
tion two thousand and thirty-nine of the Code of Virginia be amended
and re-enacted so as to read as follows: *
Sec. 2039. The board of supervisors to have power to appoint
road supervisors for magisterial districts—The board of supervisors
may appoint and employ, at such compensation as they may fix, not
exceeding three dollars per day for each day actually engaged at work
in discharging the duties of his office, a supervisor of roads for each
of the several magisterial districts of the county, or for two or more
such districts, who shall have the same duties with respect to the
several districts as is provided in this chapter for the county road
superintendent, and when all the districts of the county are thus
provided with road supervisors, the board of supervisors may, or may
not, appoint a county -superintendent of roads for the entire county;
provided, however, that in the county of Brunswick the said super-
visors of roads shall receive such compensation as the board of super-
visors may in its discretion allow, and the same may be more or less
than three dollars per day.
