Chap. 36.—An ACT to amend and re-enact chapter 133 of the acts of assembly
of 1918, approved March 13, 1918, entitled an act to amend and re-enact
all acts creating and amending the charter of the city of Lynchburg B 36]
Approved February 10, 1920.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
chapter one hundred and thirty-three of the Acts of Assembly of
nineteen hundred and eighteen, entitled “an act to amend and re-
enact all acts creating and amending the charter of the city of
Lynchburg,” be, and the same hereby is, amended by adding thereto
two sections, the first of which sections is to be known as section
seven of chapter four of said act, and is as follows:
“In case of default on the part of any bonded municipal officer,
the city shall have the same remedies upon his bond against him
and his sureties as are provided for the State in enforcing the
penalty of any official bond given to it.”
And the second section which is to be added to said act is to
be known as section four of chapter seven of said act, and is as
follows:
“The collector, commissioner of revenue and high constable may
each appoint one or more deputies, provided such appointments meet
the approval of the council; but the sureties of said officers, respec-
tively, shall be equally liable for the acts of said deputies as for those
of their principals.”
