Chap. 289.—An ACT to validate acknowledgements heretofore taken by justices
of the peace, and mayors of cities or towns or police justices who by virtue
of their offices had the powers and authority of justices of the peace, where
such justices or mayors, or police justices are designated in the perieneaes
of acknowledgement as police justices. [H B 335]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That all
certificates of acknowledgment to deeds and other writings hereto-
fore taken and certified by justices of the peace, and mayors of cities
or towns and police justices who by virtue of their offices had the
powers and authority of justices of the peace, where such justices of
the peace or mayors or police justices are designated in the certificates
of acknowledgment as police justices or mayors, shall be held, and
the same are hereby declared, valid and effective in all respects if
otherwise valid according to the law then in force.
