Chap. 263.—An ACT for the relief of the family of J. C. Shelhorse. [H B 321]
Approved March 19, 1920.
Whereas, J. C. Shelhorse, a State officer, was killed while in the
discharge of his official duties, before the workman’s compensation
act became effective in this State; and
Whereas, the families of other State officers killed while in the
discharge of their official duties since the said workmen’s compensa-
tion act became effective, have received the benefits of the same; and
Whereas, the State has so far done nothing to compensate the
family of the said Shelhorse for their loss of husband and father; and
Whereas, the family of the said Shelhorse, consisting of a widow
and several children, are in need ; now, therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That there
be, and is, hereby appropriated, out of any moneys in the State treas-
ury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of three thousand dollars, tc
compensate the family of J. C. Shelhorse for their loss as aforesaid |
and that the auditor of public accounts be, and he is, hereby directec
to draw his warrant in favor of the widow of the said J. C. Shelhorse
for the said sum.
