Chap. 252.——An ACT to amend and re-enact section 3 of an act entitled an act
to amend and re-enact sections 2, 3 and 4 of an act approved February 8,
1908, entitled an act to amend and re-enact an act approved March 7, 1906,
entitled an act to amend an act approved March 10, 1904, entitled an act to
amend and re-enact an act approved April 2, 1902, entitled an act to amend
and re-enact an act entitled an act to provide a road law for Campbell
county, approved March 5, 1900, providing and regulating a road board for
said county, and directing the disbursement of the county road fund, ap-

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
three of an act entitled an act to amend and re-enact sections two,
three and four of an act approved February eighth, nineteen hundred
and eight, entitled an act to amend and re-enact an act approved
March seventh, nineteen hundred and six, entitled an act to amend
an act approved March tenth, nineteen hundred and four, entitled an
act to amend and re-enact an act approved April second, nineteen hun-
dred and two, entitled an act to amend and re-enact an act entitled an
act to provide a road law for Campbell county, approved March fifth,
nineteen hundred, providing and regulating a road board for said
county, and directing the disbursement of the county road fund, ap-
proved March fourth, nineteen hundred and fourteen, be amended and
re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Sec. 3. The compensation of each commissioner of roads shall be
such as may be allowed by the board of supervisors, but the same
shall not exceed four dollars per day for the time actually employed,
nor shall such compensation exceed one hundred dollars in any one
year. Each such commissioner shall keep and render to the district
road board an itemized verified bill for his services showing the dates
of his employment and specific services rendered by him, which bill
shall after it has been approved by the district road board be semi-
annually transmitted by the clerk of the district board to the board
of supervisors for payment.
The chairman and clerk of each road board shall each receive as
compensation for their services such sums as the board of supervisors
may allow, but in no event shall the chairman and clerk be allowed
as compensation more than fifty dollars each per annum.
Any vacancy in the office of commissioner or clerk of the road
board shall be filled for the unexpired term by the circuit court. Every
commissioner and clerk before entering upon the duties of their office
shall severally take oath faithfully to perform their duties, which
oath shall be filed by the clerk of the circuit court of the county.
2. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from its
passage.
