Chap. 227.—An ACT to authorize the board of supervisors of Patrick county
to borrow money for the purpose of road construction, improvement and
maintenance in said county, and to issue bonds therefor, not exceeding
$50,000.00 in amount. [H B 344]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
board of supervisors of Patrick county be, and it is hereby, authorized
and empowered to borrow a sum not exceeding fifty thousand dollars
and to issue bonds or notes for same. Said bonds or notes shall be
signed by the chairman of said board and countersigned by the clerk
thereof ; they shall mature in from one to five years, the exact dates to
be fixed by the board; they shall be in amounts to be designated and
fixed by said board, and shall bear interest at a rate not exceeding six
per centum per annum. At maturity the said bonds shall be paid out
of the general county levy. The money derived from the sale of the
bonds herein mentioned shall be used for the construction and perma-
nent improvement of the roads and bridges in Patrick county, con-
structed under the supervision of the State highway commissioner
or the said board of supervisors.
2. An emergency existing in said county, this act shall be in
force and effect from the date of its passage.
