Chap. 2.—An ACT to amertd and re-enact section 135 of an act entitled an
act to provide a new charter for the city of Bristol, and to repeal all acts
or parts of acts in conflict therewith, approved March 4, 1908. [H B 40]

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That sec-
tion one hundred and thirty-five of an act entitled an act to provide
a new charter for the city of Bristol, and to repeal all acts or parts
of ects in conflict therewith, approved March fourteenth, nineteen
hundred and eight, be, and the same is, hereby amended and re-
enacted, as follows:
Sec. 135. The judge of the corporation court for said city shall re-
ceive an annual salary of not less than fifteen hundred dollars, nor more
than three thousand dollars, to be fixed by the city council, payable ir
monthly installments as provided by law; said judge shall qualify by
taking the oath required by law within thirty days after receiving his
commission, said oath to be taken before any officer authorized by
law to administer oaths, which oath shall be returned to the clerk
of said corporation court and by him recorded in the common law
order book of said court, and the original filed as provided by law.
Said judge shall not be permitted to practice law in any courts of
this Commonwealth.
2. By reason of the fact that the term of office of the judge of
said court, for the ensuing term of eight years, will commence on
February first, nineteen hundred and twenty, an emergency is declared
to exist, and this act shall be in force from and after its passage.
