Chap. 189.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 12 of an act entitled an act
to provide for working of roads in the counties of Chesterfield. Powhatan
and Goochland, approved March 3, 1884, as heretofore amended, insofar as
the said section relates to the county of Powhatan. {H B 222]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
twelve of an act entitled an act to provide for working of roads in
the counties of Chesterfield, Powhatan and Goochland, approved March
third, eighteen hundred and eighty-four, as heretofore amended, be
amended and re-enacted, insofar as the said section relates to the
county of Powhatan, so as to read as follows:
Sec. 12. There shall be two regular meetings of the said county
road board in each year at the courthouse of the said county; one
shall be held on the first Monday in April, and the other shall be held
on the first Saturday in September. The said county road board may
hold other meetings at such times and places as they may deem proper;
provided, that the members of the said county road board shall not
receive compensation for attendance upon more than seven meetings
of said board in any one year. The members of the said county road
board shall receive a compensation of two dollars per diem for attend-
ance upon the meetings of said board and mileage at the rate of five
cents per mile for each mile traveled in going to and returning from
said meetings, which per diem and mileage shall be paid out of the
county road fund.
2. An emergency existing, this act shall be in foree from its
passage.
