Chap. 187.—An ACT to require treasurers of cities of over one hundred and
twenty-five thousand inhabitants to mail bills for State taxes to tax-
payers. [H B 174]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
treasurer of every city of this Commonwealth having more than one
hundred and twenty-five thousand inhabitants shall, as soon as may
be in each year, not later than November fifth, send by United States
mail to each person in his city assessed with State taxes for that year,
a bill showing the amount of State taxes due for that year, the rate
for each purpose, the amount of land and the value thereof, and the
value of the personal property with which he is assessed. The failure
of any such treasurer to comply with this act shall constitute cause
for his removal from office.
