CHAP. 20.—An ACT to appropriate the sum of two thousand dollars to
the legislative reference bureau for the employment of stenographic
and clerical help, and to pay other expenses of said bureau. [H B 84]

Whereas, when the appropriation of three thousand dollars
to the legislative reference bureau to pay the salaries and ex-
penses of said bureau for the appropriation year ending Febru-
ary twenty-eighth, nineteen hundred and twenty, was made, it
was not anticipated that there would be an extra session of the
general assembly; and,
Whereas, owing to the additional expenses made necessary
by the conveying of the general assembly in extra session, unless
the said appropriation is supplemented at the extra session the
funds of the bureau will have become exhausted before the con-
vening of the regular session in 1920; now therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the sum of two thousand dollars be, and the same is hereby, ap-
propriated, out of any money in the treasury not otherwise ap-
propriated, for the purpose of supplementing the appropriation
heretofore made for salaries and expenses of said legislative ref-
erence bureau for the current appropriation year ending the
twenty-eighth day of February. nineteen hundred and twenty
to be paid by the treasurer of Virginia on the warrants of the
auditor of public accounts issued upon the vouchers of the di.
rector of said bureau.
2. In order to facilitate the work of the said bureau during
the present session of the general assembly, an emergency is de-
clared to exist, and this act shall take effect upon its passage.
