Chap. 379.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 238 of the Code of Vir-
ginia providing for the examination of accounts and the payments of
amounts appropriated for contingent expenses. [S B 385]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section two hundred and thirty-eight of the Code of Virginia pro-
viding for the examination of accounts and the payments of
amounts appropriated for contingent expenses be amended and
re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Section 238. Examination of accounts for contingent expenses.
—The head of a department or office to which an appropriation is
made for contingent expenses shall examine the accounts for the
same, and certify for payment such as he may approve.
2. To enable accounts for contingent expenses, for the payment
of which appropriations are provided, to be paid, an emergency
is declared to exist, and this act shall be in force from its passage.
