1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, Ths
all certificates of acknowledgment to deeds and other writings hert-
tofore taken and certified by notaries public residing in foreigt
countries, shall be held, and the same are hereby declared, valid
and effective in all respects, if otherwise valid according to the lav
then in force.
