Chap. 333.—An ACT to appoint a commission to provide and arrange for a
celebration of the 300th anniversary of the first meeting of the general
assembly of Virginia, on July 30, 1919, and to provide sufficient funds
therefor. [H B 439}

Whereas, by joint resolution of the general assembly on the sixth
day of March, nineteen hundred and sixteen, a commission was
appointed, composed of the governor of Virginia, one member
of the senate, and two members of the house of delegates, to recom-
mend an appropriate inexpensive celebration of the three hundredth
anniversary of the first meeting of the general assembly of Virginia.
and to present recommendations to the general assembly at its ses-
sion In the year nineteen hundred and eighteen; and,
Whereas, the said commission has made its report and recom-
men‘lation; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
commission heretofore constituted and appointed, composed of the
governor of Virginia, Julien Gunn, Norvell L. Henley and W. W.
Baker, be and it is hereby authorized to provide and arrange for a
celebration of the three hundredth anniversary of the first meeting
of the general assembly of Virginia, on July thirtieth, nineteen hun-
dred and nineteen; and said commission is hereby authorized and
empowered, in its discretion, to arrange such program as in its
judgment may be appropriate to celebrate such occasion, at an
expense not to exceed the amount herein appropriated.
2. The sum of two thousand dollars, or so much thereof as may
be necessary to carry out the provisions of this act, is hereby appro-
priated for that purpose, to be paid out of the funds of the State
not otherwise appropriated, upon a requisition drawn by said com-
mission.
