Chap. 307.—An ACT to appropriate $810.25 to compensate A. Wingfield Baker
for subsistence and supplies furnished by him to Company A, engineers,
national guard of Virginia, under command of Captain Wm. F. R. Grif-
fith, between the time of its organization and mobilization, July 5, 1916,
and its muster into the federal service, July 25, 1916. [H B 278]

Whereas, it appears that between July fifth, nineteen hundred
and sixteen, on which date the organization was mobilized in the
city of Richmond, Virginia, as a part of the national guard of Vir-
ginia, preparatory to service on the Mexican border, and its muster-
ing into the federal service on July twenty-fifth, nineteen hundred
and sixteen, A. Wingfield Baker furnished company A, engineers,
national guard of Virginia, under command of Captain William
F. R. Griffith, necessary subsistence and supplies for the main-
tenance of said company, aggregating eight hundred and ten dollars
and twenty-five cents, which subsistence and supplies were neces-
sary in the recruiting and maintenance of the said military organi-
zation as a part of Virginia’s contribution to the national guard
service in time of war, which expenses the commanding or com-
missioned officers of the said organization are unable to pay. and
for which there is no provision for payment out of the military
fund of the State of Virginia; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
sum of eight hundred and ten dollars and twenty-five cents be,
and the same is hereby appropriated out of any money in the treas-
ury of the Commonwealth not heretofore appropriated for the pur-
pose of compensating A. Wingfield Baker, of Richmond, Virginia,
for subsistence and supplies, Furnished the said military organiza-
tion as aforesaid.
2. That the auditor of public accounts be, and he is hereby
authorized, empowered and directed to forthwith draw his war-
rant in favor of A. Wingfield Baker on the treasurer of Virginia,
for the sum of eight hundred and ten dollars and twenty-five cents,
for the purpose in this act stated.
3. All acts and parts of acts in conflict herewith, be and the
same are hereby repealed.
