Chap. 196.—An ACT to regulate the hunting, shooting, or sale of squirrel:
in the county of Rappahannock. (H B 401)

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That it
shall be unlawful for any person to hunt or shoot, buy, sell or offer
for sale any squirrel or squirrels within the county of Rappahan.

2. Any person violating the provisions of this act shall be guilty
of a misdemeanor, and fined not less than ten nor more than fifty
dollars, or imprisoned in the county jail not more than thirty days
or both such fine and imprisonment, in the discretion of the Justice,
jury or judge trying the case.
3. Nothing in this act shall be construed to prevent the board
of supervisors of said county from shortening the open season for
hunting or shooting squirrels in such county, as in the case of other
game; nor to prohibit any person or the members of his family from
unting, shooting or trapping squirrels on his own land at any time,
or on land of which he is the bona fide renter or lessee, nor to pro-
hibit bona fide employees of such land owner, renter or lessee from
hunting, shooting or trapping squirrels on the land of said land
owner, renter or lessee; provided such employees shall have the
written consent of the land owner, renter or lessee, as the case may
be, and shall reside on the land owned, rented or leasd of such land
owner, renter or lessee.
_ 4. Nothing herein contained shall be construed to repeal or con-
ict with an act to provide that it shall be unlawful to hunt or trap
birds or animals in the county of Rappahannock without obtaining
a written permit from the land owner, or land owners, and to pro-
ae a penalty therefor, approved March eighteenth, nineteen hun-
red and ten.
