Chap. 186.—An ACT to authorize the board of supervisors of Henry county
to appropriate from the general funds of said county a sufficient amount
of money to maintain the convict road force in said county, and for the
construction of other permanent improved roads in said county, and to
borrow money at any time not exceedingly $20,000, for the purpose of
maintaining said convict road force and for the construction of other
permanent improved roads as aforesaid. (H B $24]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
board of supervisors of Henry county, be, and it is hereby, author-
ized to appropriate and use a sufficient amount of the general funds
raised by the general county levy as may be necessary to maintain
the convict road force in said county, and for the construction of
other permanent improved roads in said county, as a supplement to
the county fund. And the said board of supervisors is here author-
ized and empowered to borrow money and to execute bonds or notes
for the same, to an amount not to exceed at any one time, twenty
thousand dollars, and not to run for a period of more than one year,
sald notes or bonds to be executed by the chairman of said board
and attested by the clerk thereof, and at maturity to be paid out
of the general county levy, said money to be used only for and not
otherwise than for the maintenance of said convict road force, or
in the construction of any permanently improved road in said
county, constructed under the supervision of the State highway
commissioner or the said board of supervisors.
2. An emergency existing for the lack of funds in said county
to properly carry on road construction, this act shall be in force
from its passage.
