Chap. 183.—An ACT to validate certain instruments in town of Mendota.

Whereas, a charter has been granted incorporating the town of
Mendota, in this State, and clothing the mayor of said town with
all the powers and authority and jurisdiction of a justice of the
peace of Washington county, Virginia, under which acknowledg-
ments of deeds and other writings have been taken; and,
Whereas, it is desirable, in the interest of innocent purchasers,
that said acknowledgments be validated; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That all
acknowledgments of deeds and other writings heretofore taken by
mayors Of said town, be, and the same are, validated and made as
binding and effectual as if said acknowledgments had been taken bv
properly authorized officers.
