Chap. 168.—An ACT for the protection of gray squirrels in the county of
Loudoun. [H B 23s]
Approved March 14, 1918.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That it
shall be unlawful for any person to hunt, kill or capture in any
manner, buy, sell or offer for sale, or have in his possession any gray
squirrels within the county of Loudoun, between the first day of
November of each year and the first day of June of the year follow-
ing. During the open season for squirrel hunting, the person or
persons so hunting must first secure the written permission of the
land owner, renter or person duly qualified to give such written
permission.
2. Any person violating the provisions of this act shall be guilty
of a misdemeanor and fined five dollars for the first offense and
ten dollars for each subsequent offense, one-half of said fine to go
to the person or persons furnishing the evidence and the other one-
half to the road fund of the said county of Loudoun.
8. This act shall not apply to the hunting of squirrels upon land
owned or rented by the person actually hunting.
